THE IMPACT OF MINDSET AND MOVEMENT ON YOUR WELLBEING FOR LIFE

Did you know our thoughts are the main contributor to our stress, not our environment or circumstances? When we’re experiencing stress, our body is providing a powerful cocktail of hormones, which frustratingly makes it so difficult to switch off.

Our posture and the way we move influences our mindset, and vice versa. By becoming aware of our body and learning how to align movement with our mindset, we become connected, energised, focused, and relaxed.

The human brain is hardwired to avoid discomfort and conserve energy. For our pre-historic ancestors, he development of an autonomous nervous system responding with either fight, flight or freeze to stressful situations was essential for the survival of our human species.

However, never in in our history have life circumstances changed which such a speed, diversity and might (think smartphone, sedentary lifestyle, convenience foods, etc.)

Today, most of us experience a constant level of stress and consequently, our well-meaning body reacts on those triggers just like it would have thousands of years ago. The effect: constant mental and/or physical exhaustion, overwhelm and irritation.

Meet Mel

A calm, curious and sensitive coach, Mel guides people and teams toward self-awareness and self-empowerment. She has been described as a rudder in the river – even-keeled and calm – steering with a gentle but firm hand towards new adventures ahead.

Mel is an experienced teacher, mentor, facilitator, and coach; a professional, certified Mindset and Career Coach (ACC ICF), certified Hatha Yoga Teacher, International Laughter Leader (CLYL), Hormone Yoga Therapist (IYTA), and Mindfulness Practitioner. She lives on serene Waiheke Island in New Zealand where she works and practices, supporting students and clients in person and virtually, worldwide.

Mel's own journey of self-discovery started when she found a yoga book in the attic of her parent's house. The story of personal transformation that she read about as a teenager was as intriguing to her as the postures and breathing techniques. Later in life, while working in fast-paced positions in finance and sales, Mel experienced how an unbalanced mind-body connection creates a barrier to living and working with ease and flow. As a mum of four, she navigated through constant changes in circumstances. Her knowledge, experience, and practice of Yoga and Mindfulness always brought her back into balance. Today, Mel's mission is to empower and create space for her clients to feel safe, motivated, energised, and calm. This is the basis for creating a meaningful and joyful life for everyone.
