Take a moment

“Be mindful of intention.
Intention is the seed that creates our future.”

— Jack Kornfield

For the last couple of days, I have been blessed to experience the tranquillity of the holidays.

My phone was mostly switched off, and the most significant decisions were whether to hop into the ocean again or return to my book. Those moments of tranquillity are precious - just like the wonderful woman on the beach with whom I shared that moment with (you know who you are).

You might transition into 2025 with family and friends or spend the next few days in solitude. Whatever it is, do not forget to honour the most important person you are in a relationship with: yourself.

You are worth it.

Here is a poem I thought is fitting to keep the tranquillity of the holidays going:

Take a moment and sit with me
Close your eyes and count to 3
That was one moment. Look how quickly it flees!
Now take that moment and crumple it into a ball
Crumple each moment, crumple them all
Take a moment and look to see
All these balled up memories
Each one a different color
Each one is different from one another
Some feel light, soft and clean
Others are dark, nasty and mean
Some make you happy as can be
And others...well, they make you wish you couldn't count to 3
But what to do to all these memories? What can I do with all these past glories?
Why not take a moment by telling your story?
Take a moment and open a ball and read aloud. Use that voice and be proud.
Because these moments are for you
And with them is what you can choose to do.
Take a moment and whisper your thoughts into box
Take a moment and yell your feelings from the tree tops
Don't let someone silence you
Don't do what people tell you to.
Don't let these ideas stay dormant.
It'll only take 3 seconds..it'll only take a moment.
-Poem by Andria

What are your ideas for 2025?

Would you like to see more tranquility, or maybe more excitement, connectedness or joyfulness?

How aware are you of what you want from 2025?

It is so easy to point the finger at what we don't want, yet it is helpful to be aware of what we want so we can be intentional about it!

Some questions may be helpful to consider:

- What am I clinging to?
- What am I afraid of?
- What excites me?
- What do I need?

These questions may be helpful to create your intention word for the coming year.

For the past year, my word has been "simplicity." Whenever I doubted something or had a decision to make, I opted for the most simplistic path. Sometimes, it worked, and sometimes, I simply forgot. That's when I got into situations that turned out to be frustrating or unnecessarily hard.

I still have a long way to go to achieve the simplistic life I desire, but I feel I am on the right path. I wondered what intention would be helpful for 2025 to keep me on the right track.

I have answered the three questions above and concluded that I jump at new opportunities too soon and too often, which makes me fill my day with more activities than I want to.

When I asked myself what might help me further, the word "patience" came up as in "waiting for a moment" before saying yes. I'll play around with that word for the next couple of days to see if it is a good fit as my intention word for 2025.

What might be your intention word for 2025?

My invitation to you today:

  • Take a moment and sit with yourself.

  • Close your eyes and count to 3.

  • Appreciate that you took that moment for yourself.

  • How does that feel?

  • If you are looking for an intention word for 2025 - maybe contemplate on the three questions above and think about what might be essential for you to consider in 2025.

  • Try on the word as if it were a garment in the changing room of your favourite store. Check how it feels wearing it. You do not need to buy it—just try it.

This is your time. You deserve to be good toward yourself.

Right, I am going back to my book.

I hope you have a safe transition into 2025 and find the seed that creates your desired future.

With patience

Mel
